Couples' relationships after brain injury: The rehabilitation of love and supporting heartbreak
This webinar, facilitated by Dr Giles Yeates, Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist, discussed couples' relationships after brain injury and the rehabilitation of love and supporting heartbreak.
Whereas rehabilitation commonly focuses on the individual needs of survivors, it is the emotional connection between a survivor and their partner that can be the most significant change post-injury, and while a priority for service users, is rarely supported directly in brain injury services.
This talk explored common ways in which couples' relationships are challenged post-injury, and key resources for couples in either trying to find a way back to each other, or coping with the impact of separation post-injury.
