An avid cyclist and outdoor enthusiast, Dick Cable went on a long bike ride to increase his yearly mileage on Nov. 6, 2020. When he got back to the parking lot he fell off his bike and hit his head, which resulted in a diffuse axonal brain injury. DIck was airlifted to Vassar Brothers Medical Center where he spent a week in a coma but the prognosis was not good. Six weeks later he came to Gaylord for his care and rehabilitation. No one knew for sure how far DIck would come back. But with intensive therapy and the support of his husband, Tomas, Dick was able to return home where he continues to steadily improve. Dick and Tomas want to offer a special thanks to their friend Joe Thomas for his constant support, care, and enduring friendship throughout Dick’s recovery.
