Today Eric explains the various lobes of the brain, how they function, what happens when they are damaged, and how they are affected by TBI (also known as traumatic brain injury, or acquired brain injury).
The different regions of the brain control various behaviors and bodily functions. So brain damage to any of the different areas of the brain will manifest different symptoms. This information is especially helpful to friends and family of brain injury survivors, as it may explain changes in their behavior, as well as provide insight as to what the injured person is going through.

After seeing this it makes me realize I need more help. The ER here didn't care when I had my severe hit to the back of my head. They cared about my bruised kidney more and my neck was swollen on the right side for the longest time. Then I had a couple injuries to the left side of my head from falling into rocks. They didn't care still but they scraped rocks out of my eye and lazered my Iris back together. Then there was the worst incident where I was assaulted and hit in the face with a brick three times. I went to the ER needing stitches but they only cleaned out the gash to the bottom of my right foot and it still has dirt healed in it. They finally did an x-ray and saw my nose broken straight across and into my eye socket. My right tear duct is connected to my sinus because of it. And I have a Bluetooth symbol on the left side of my head now. And a permanent stupid button from a fracture to my left temple. If I touch it and apply pressure I will forget everything that's going on. It's been useful for the depression issues I had. But It's still upsetting that it's been so long and I've gone through so many head traumas that literally everything is a struggle for me. I look normal minus a couple scars on my face and head, but I'm only good at writing. Try and talk to me and it's not going to go as planned I can only stay focused for like 40 seconds. I feel so stupid because of it and sometimes I did want to die. But I also contemplated just giving up on talking and doing complex tasks so I can feel somewhat normal again. It's really hard to see a neurologist here though because even if you bring up issues to a doctor multiple times they won't do it for you unless you have a very valid reason. And they just like to assume everyone is on drugs. So yeah. I just live my life tormented and depressed and I'm going to be having a child soon but I don't think I can be what my kid needs later on in life. I'm depressed like all the time now and under so much stress. I already had PTSD but now I'm afraid of everything and I just want to die sometimes. I feel trapped without any help. And I'm just constantly being hurt by everyone because of the assumptions and all the standards I'm supposed to live up to. I really need help. Help would be nice instead of being denied because of what people choose to think is going on vs. what is actually happening.
