This video was made for our TBI Voices project. We interviewed thirty real life survivors of brain injury. In these interviews we talked to the survivors about how they became brain injured and who they were before their brain injury. We also talk about their recovery and what deficits they have encountered because of their brain injury.
Gina's husband explains: "Well a lot of it is time and be patient. It's not going to be better over night and it is a life changing experience. You're going to have to deal with things that change with your significant other after a result of an injury like this."

Fortunately I knew CPR when my wife received her TBI 30 years ago. It's the only reason I have her still today. I believe the wife of this person being interviewed still has a long way to go to discover that, yes it doesn't get better, but it will get worse, I do hope her injury isn't as bad as it could have been. My wife's head hit the concrete with a terrific force, resulting in skull and facial fractures followed by an almost 3 week coma. Her TBI had sponge-like bleeding, unlike a puddling that could have been drilled and drained, the pressure from bleeding remained until medication and time dissolved it. Without a looong setup story, about 5 years ago my wife started having (term I believe coined here) 'episodes' of confusion lost. They last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. During these episodes she will go into what I would call a 'memory loop', where she would repeat the same question every 1 to 3 minutes. Her confusion will be nonstop with pacing, wandering and nonstop talking has gone on for 24 to 48 hours. There would be aggressive shouting or tirade's going on for hours ending as quickly as they began, simply trading of to a different nonstop emotional excess. I only mean to offer what can be in the future of many on down the road. My prayers are with you.
