It seemed just like a regular night on December 23, 2020, when Barbara-Lee Edwards signed off at CBS 8 after anchoring the 11 p.m. newscast.

CBS 8’s Marcella Lee sat down to talk with her about that night and how her life has changed since that evening.

This is an extended version of that interview.

We love you Barbara-Lee.

Fuqoff says:

My wife just got a subarachnoid hemorrhage after fainting and hitting her head on our kitchen floor. I was trying to get to her after she called my name, I was literally 5 steps away when I watched her fall straight back and hit her head. Luckily they said it was a small hemorrhage and will resolve itself. Like this lady’s husband I googled the term subarachnoid hemorrhage and what I saw scared the heck out of me, it seemed dire. Which was shocking because my wife didn’t even have a headache and seemed fine. It’s a few weeks later and she seems to have no ongoing issues. She is taking it much easier and seems to not be really pushing hard at work. I’m not sure if she can’t push hard anymore or if she’s just following what the Dr’s told her to do. She says she’s fine but I worry that the people who suffer from this trauma may not know that they’ve changed.

Brad K says:

Should have stayed in Winnipeg

Robynne Arnold says:

She was the anchor at CTV News Winnipeg when she first started her career. So happy she is making a healthy speedy recovery.

Sylvia Oesterwinter says:

This is why News 8 has been my station for decades. What grace, humanity, and love. Life can change in a heartbeat folks. Take a breath and don't let the stupid little stuff mean more than it should.

C Corn says:

This made me cry. I have heard that cold lasers are miracles for the brain and because of the low cost and no insurance baccking they aren't used much by most doctors. There are doctors in SD wo have them.

JJ Faris says:

Carol Berry says:

I have missed you, Barbara-Lee! I pray for you all the time!!I actually met You & your kind son at Susan Komen 5k. Your son was worried about my terrified, pit bull, Demetria. The crowd scared her. Your son wanted to pet her! She took a liking to him! You are always part of San Diego family! God Bless you!
