Luis survived a motorcycle crash that left him unresponsive for months. Just when all hope seemed lost, he opened his eyes and said to his wife “I love you.” Six years later Luis is still learning to walk and talk. His wife and daughter support him every step of the way because they believe love is an unconditional commitment.

Since his accident Luis has remained mostly in a single room. Consider contributing to Luis’ independence at the link above. These funds will go directly to his family and be used for a wheelchair accessible van.

GertyAndyDean says:

My husband suffered an anoxic brain injury shortly after we married. I see lots of opinions floating around here about what a real marriage is. I have chosen to stay with my spouse, but I would never judge someone for leaving. Unless you have experienced this, you have zero right to judge. Disability doesn't stop you from loving a person – whether you stay or leave. I would embrace this woman so hard if I could.

God bless this woman. And what an amazing daughter they have. Even in tragedy this man is truly blessed. I hope and pray he is able to continue recovering for them. It may never be the same, but this man has everything he has ever wanted in those two women. You can see in his eyes that he is content. I hope one day to know that contentment.
